Ghatasthapana is a sacred Hindu ritual that marks the first day and formal beginning of the Navratri festival, It is the opening ritual that marks the first day of the nine-day Navratri festival. It literally means "establishing the pot" (Ghata means pot or kalash, and Sthapana means installation). This ceremony symbolizes the invocation of Goddess Durga and invites her divine presence into the home.
